Apple “1997”

Apple concept video from 1987 imagines the future

Apple: We loved stumbling across this retro-futuristic concept video created by Apple in 1987, where they imagine what the the future in 1997 will look like. It’s an awesome flashback that’s full of things that would of then seemed innovative, such as video glasses or web connected homes and pretty funny when you compare it to where Apple and technology in general is today. Gold! 🙂

Hoverboard is Happening!!

Hoverboard, the flying skateboard, from 'Back to the Future II' is being developed by Lexus

Hoverboard: If you are anything like us, you have been patiently waiting for this legendary flying skateboard since you first saw ‘Back to the Future II’ many moons ago. Well, peeps, the wait might be over as it seems via the Lexus SLIDE project, Japanese designer Haruhiko Tanahashi has created the first real hoverboard. However…although what we see on the Lexus website is beautiful, and apparently usable, we can’t get too ahead of ourselves – this prototype currently uses superconductivity via magnets and liquid nitrogen in order to fly above a metal plate 🙁 So don’t expect to be flying around the streets hooked to the back of a futuristic car just yet…but we’re getting there! YES, YES, YES!!!

Hank the Beer Tank – Product of the Day

‘Hank the Beer Tank’ is a fully portable compact Kegerator. Party on!

Hank the Beer Tank: We absolutely LOVE ‘Hank the Beer Tank’ which is a very clever, fully portable kegerator that can easily travel around for parties, camping, anything, and can operate off of 110-240V AC, or 12-24V DC. Founders Sebastian Ehreiser and Adam Koeppel are currently raising funds via Kickstarter in order to bring ‘Hank the Beer Tank’ to market and say this about the product “You can plug me into just about anything. And while I am plugged in I use less power than a 60W light bulb. To serve beer. From a keg. Anywhere. I do this by using a super efficient inverter controlled compressor, power electronics, and a digital control unit. I am smart about sipping power, and I wont drain your battery, I will just turn off. Warm beer is always better than a car that won’t start. I carry CO2 with me to keep kegs pressurized and preserved. I can accommodate a sixtel keg of your favorite craft beer. I can cool it to 0F, but who wants a frozen keg? I am also half the size of most kegerators on the market, so I can fit in a small space in your home, truck, boat, or tent. Just don’t leave me outside, I don’t like the rain.” This. is. GOLD! Happy Friday! 🙂

Coco de Mer’s ‘X’ – Video of the Day

Coco de Mer invites us into an erotic realm; mixing wonder, danger and sex.

Coco de Mer: Under The Skin writer Walter Campbell and legendary photographer Rankin have paired up for X, a short film about sex that’s something of a sensory overload, made in partnership with underwear and sex toy brand Coco De Mer. Using a combination of found footage, seductive acting and an at times brutal soundtrack, X invites you into an otherworldly erotic realm; mixing danger, violence and sex. “The film embraces the sense of the ambient mind and what it might be inspired by, the transgression from banality into wonder”, says Campbell. “More and more I feel we enter the hinterlands of that dream state simply because the mind seeks something wilder, that unpredictable thing, the surprise moment. The film speaks about the morphing of these possibilities, and evokes Coco de Mer’s evolution of erotic thought. Coco de Mer embodies those wonderful flights of imagination that steer the mind to more extraordinary, more vital energies, and this campaign is an exciting platform for the brand to open up the erotic conversation even further.” It’s contemporary, erotic and a lil bit naughty, check it out – LOVE! Barracuda – Product of the Day

Barracuda is the carry-on roller bag with a clever collapsible design

Barracuda: We are obsessed with the Barracuda which is a uniquely designed carry-on bag that is equipped with connectivity features as well as a clever collapsible structure. The Barracuda includes a USB charger, GPS capability (for locating the bag), plus an integrated laptop tray and while looking like a typical hardshell roller bag, it collapses flat for storage in just a few seconds. The San Francisco-based brand is currently raising funds via a Kickstarter campaign with the bag expected to ship in November 2015. Amazing idea!

Apple Watch & New MacBook

Apple products continue to innovate and impress

Apple: A further and more in-depth look into the new Apple Watch and the new MacBook were announced at a live Apple event in San Francisco, California. So awesome!! And although the Apple Watch is clearly the most exciting new kid on the block, it is definitely the new MacBook that is the talk of the town. Apple’s new MacBook now becomes the thinnest notebook ever at just 13.1mm at its thickest point and a weight of just under a 1kg (907 grams). The newly designed Apple MacBook runs silently with a fanless logic board that is 67% smaller than the 11-inch MacBook Air. The batteries themselves have been redesigned as well, allowing them to be built with a contoured design to maximise the available space. The result provides enough power for all-day battery life, according to Apple. One major change is that the Apple MacBook features just one single USB-C port that will be used for multiple purposes including charging, video output, and USB data transfer. USB-C also has a reversible design, eliminating frustration when trying to orient a USB cable correctly. The new notebook is available in space grey, silver, and gold tones, and in two different versions. One version starts at $1,299 (USD) with a 1.1GHz Intel Core M processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of flash storage. The $1,599 version (USD) has a 1.2GHz processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Both versions of the new MacBook will be available in the United States beginning 10th April, 2015. The Apple Watch is Apple’s first wearable device that will be launched on 24th April, 2015. The Apple Watch collection features highly polished stainless steel and space black stainless steel cases. The display is protected by sapphire crystal. And there’s a choice of three different leather bands, a link bracelet, a Milanese loop, and a band made from high-performance fluoroelastomer. Siri is also integrated allowing users to experience the familiarity of features found on other Apple devices such as navigation, keeping track of events, and messaging friends. Take a look at both the Apple Watch and the new MacBook below:

‘Boo-Boos’ – Are these Band-Aids too Realistic?

'Boo-Boos' depict sickening & repulsive injuries yet they're so much fun!

If you enjoy others feeling sorry for you with every little cut or graze, then Boo-Boos are probably for you. Boo-Boos are just like the band-aids you already use only hyper-realistic – allowing you to transform the smallest cut into a gunshot wound, chemical burn, or skin ulcer. An offbeat project currently being funded on Kickstarter, Boo-Boos make your cuts & scrapes look so much worse than they really are. While the injuries depicted on these bandages are somewhat sickening and repulsive, they are also just a bit of fun. So go ahead and slap them on and watch people gasp and gag at your laceration, burn, or infection. So gross!

Boo-Boos 1

So what’s the story? $hërwøõd Förlêé, inventor of the Anti-Theft Lunch Bags, came up with the idea for Boo-Boos after witnessing an accident that involved a bit too much blood for his liking. A visit to the ER revealed that the injury was thankfully (but disappointingly given the look of it) not very serious. A couple of stitches later and all was good again. $hërwøõd maintains, however, that at the time, the injury was life-threatening, and I’m sure that many of you can relate to this sentiment after receiving nicks of your own. Now, with Boo-Boos, you can finally convince people of the gravity of your wound while keeping the truth under wraps. A variety of injuries are depicted on the bandages including:

Boo-Boos 2

The bandages, despite how they look, are sterile, latex-free, and individually wrapped so you can guarantee your boo-boos won’t turn into Boo-Boos. All bandages measure 3″ × 0.75″ (76mm × 19mm). Boo-Boos aren’t for everyone, especially those with weak stomachs, but you have to admit, they’re definitely more interesting than any of the other Band-Aids on the market. If you don’t mind a bit of attention, enjoy having a bit of a laugh, or you wish to convey pain in a conceivable visual manner, then Boo-Boos are definitely for you!
