McDonald’s – You Deserve a Break Today – Australia, 1983 (TVC)

Flashback Friday: First airing in Melbourne on the 28th February 1983 and recorded on Betamax, McDonald’s Australia served us up a nice big budget, yet slightly schlocky, Broadway style production number inspired by earlier 1970s American television advertising. The skilled instructors at the school teach the students how to swim like a mermaid, a feat that requires a great deal of core strength, and in doing so, encourage self-confidence and pride. Ummm ok, sure…it’s all fun and games until someone drowns. Merman…Merman! 😉
