Socality Barbie: Socality Barbie is the Instagram account of a hipster Barbie, who is now at more than 699,000 followers. An unexpected and ironic success, Socality Barbie was created by a professional photographer, based in Oregon, who wanted above all to parody the similarity of all Instagram accounts. Very funny and clever – Barbie never looked so random 😉
Jason Peterson: We LOVE ‘Follow me into the Dark’ – a selection of beautiful, black and white Instagram photographs by Jason Peterson, which capture various, contrasting cities, people and urban landscapes in dark yet captivating images. Amazing contemporary work!
Stephen McMennamy: We love the fantastic ‘ComboPhoto’ series by American photographer Stephen McMennamy, who has a laugh on Instagram and Tumblr juxtaposing unrelated photos to create funny and very clever mashups. Great stuff! 🙂
Catstacam: From our ‘WTF, is this really happening?’ file, comes the newest thing in feline chic – ‘Catstacam’. ‘Catstacam’ is a new kind of wearable camera for cats, which can automatically upload photographs from the secret life of your cat to a dedicated Instagram account. This interesting gadget designed by Whiskas in Australia will take pictures and happily post them on Instagram as soon as it is within range of your wi-fi network. Whiskas explained the ‘Catstacam’ on their Facebook page “Have you ever wondered what your cat was trying to tell you with some of their actions? WHISKAS® CATSTACAM™ is our brand new program designed to help cat lovers better understand cats by giving a glimpse into their world. The custom WHISKAS CATSTACAM devices let selected cats take photos and post them directly to their own Instagram accounts. At the moment we only have a limited number of devices available (that’s why they’re not available for purchase) so to share our cat insights we have chosen key cat lovers that will help us spread the word – and show-off their furry friends’ intriguing behaviour. Low Cut Connie: Check out the crazy choreographies by Adams Carpenters, an Instagram dance sensation with over 52,000 followers, in a montage created for the music video Shake It Little Tina from American band, Low Cut Connie. Love it! Low Cut Connie is a rock and roll band established in Philadelphia in 2010. Its frontmen and founding members are Adam Weiner (piano), who is from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Dan Finnemore (drums and guitar), from Birmingham, England. The band has been recognised by various media in the US for their records and high-energy live show, of which the L.A. Weekly recently said “Their ferocious live show…is unmatched in all of rock right now.” In 2011, they released their debut album Get Out the Lotion, landing on NPR / Fresh Air’s ‘Top Ten Albums Of The Year’ and legendary critic Robert Christgau’s ‘Top Ten Songs Of The Year’ lists. Their 2nd album, Call Me Sylvia included the band’s biggest song to date, Boozophilia, named one of Rolling Stone’s ‘Top 50 songs of 2012’. The success of this record prompted an invitation by Jack White to play the grand reopening of his Third Man Records venue. Low Cut Connie played 100+ shows in 2013 and ended the year by recording their third album with renowned producer Thomas Brenneck (Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Alabama Shakes). This soulful effort will be released Spring 2015. It features guest stars Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards), Dean Ween, Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound), and members of the Dap Kings and The Budos Band.
