Mothmeister: We’re intrigued by the latest creations from artists Mothmeister who create somewhat frightening photographs that are caught between our worst nightmares and old-world taxidermy and feature objects from their vast cabinet of curiosities. Their Wounderland series leads us into a strange and disturbing world which is inhabited by scary creatures and deformed animals. Creepy as yet we love their haunting impact.
The Daily Splice: Loving the clever creations of British artist Adam Hale, aka The Daily Splice, who uses free newspapers and magazines around London to create a new collage every day, cutting up assorted photographs and assembling them by hand. Awesome stuff! 🙂
Gabriel Moreno: We LOVE the creations of Spanish illustrator, graphic designer and artist Gabriel Moreno, who imagines colourful and captivating compositions made with a mixture of watercolour, pen and digital painting. Gabriel Moreno has also worked for many brands and publications, such as Nike, The Wall Street Journal, Rolex, Victoria’s Secret, GQ and Rolling Stone. Awesome work!
Amy Lombard: We love this collaboration between photographer Amy Lombard and nail artist Natalie Pavloski, who create colourful and dripping compositions featuring female hands adorned with fake nails and surrounded by copious amounts of junk food, hamburgers, pizza, donuts. The world of fashion meets food porn. Yum!
Peechaya Burroughs: We love the work of Australian graphic artist and photographer Peechaya Burroughs who has taken an amusing series of photos in which she created real life emojis and other child-like, playful images, some made from food. Fantastic stuff! 🙂
Elliot Schultz: We love the work of artist Elliot Schultz who created a mesmerising series of embroidered zoetropes as his graduating project from Australian National University, animating the embroidered designs by placing them on turntables with strobe lights synced to the rotation of the discs. Fantastic stuff! 🙂
Son Lux: We love electronic band Son Lux and their new music video for ‘You Don’t Know Me’, created by The Made Shop and directed by Nathan Johnson. From Son Lux’s fourth album, ‘Bones’, which is out now through Glassnote Records, this awesome vid stars Tatiana Maslany, the fantastic actress who plays at least seven different roles to perfection in the cult clone series ‘Orphan Black‘. Star Wars Bands: Designed by the team of Superfi, Star Wars Bands is a funny series of mashups merging characters of the Star Wars saga with cult rock & pop bands and artists. Love it – very clever! 🙂
Freaky Flowers: A beautiful time-lapse video by photographer Greg Krehel, ‘Freaky Flowers’ compares the flowering of cactus from the Echinopsis family, with some real natural fireworks. So amazing – Happy Friday, everyone! 🙂
