Flashback Friday: First airing in Melbourne on the 28th February 1983 and recorded on Betamax, McDonald’s Australia served us up a nice big budget, yet slightly schlocky, Broadway style production number inspired by earlier 1970s American television advertising. Well done, Macca’s – it’s this high level of fast food aspiration that has earned you a place in Australian pop cultural hearts forever.

KFC India have introduced the KFC Watt a Box, a take away chicken box with a rechargeable USB battery so customers can plug in their devices for a little extra boost while eating. The Watt a Box is a collaboration between the fast food chain and Blink Digital with limited edition boxes given to a few customers at locations in Mumbai and Delhi. Great marketing gimmick that could actually come in handy 🙂
Promoted in this beat box-style video created by Ogilvy Hong Kong, KFC in Hong Kong have partnered with McCormick, the spice company that mixes their secret recipe, to create a limited run of edible “finger lickin’ good” nail polishes that come in the most popular flavours such as Original and Hot & Spicy. This marketing gimmick takes licking your fingers to a whole new level…WTF?!
McWhopper: Although Macca’s seem to have rejected the idea, Burger King were putting it out there by sending a collaboration proposal to McDonald’s to create the McWhopper, a mashup between the Whopper and the Big Mac, the two most iconic burgers in the history of crap food. Although the McWhopper from these giants of fast food was to be sold only on 21st September 2015 during the International Day of Peace, Macca’s have poo poo’d the concept which is a shame – that baby would of been tasty! Check out the concept vid below. Love it! 🙂
