Kelly Slater: Surfer Kelly Slater has introduced what he is calling the longest rideable man-made wave, a project by the Kelly Slater Wave Company with the company producing an awesome video that shows Slater riding the impressive and seemingly interminable wave – this is very cool! 🙂
Twin Peaks: Actor Michael Horse, who played Deputy Hawk Hill, muses about how certain locations become characters unto themselves in the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated reboot of the classic television series Twin Peaks which is set to premiere on Showtime in 2017. Excited to see where they go with this one.
CNN: Transporting us back to the golden age of aviation, CNN have compiled a selection of vintage photographs from a time when airlines were selling globetrotting dreams and high-end luxury. The exact opposite of today’s low cost carriers, these photographs from the 50s and 60s remind us that air travel was once synonymous with fashion, cocktails, luxury, glamour, gastronomy, and social status although it did come at a price – a Sydney to London round trip cost the equivalent of thirty weeks wages! Swinney just created an awesome montage comparing the visual references of Quentin Tarantino with the original films including scenes from Psycho, Citizen Kane, Miller’s Crossing, Django, Metropolis and many more. Quentin Tarantino is a true movie lover and does not hesitate to pay tribute to scenes, actors, and directors in his own films, replicating exact moments from a variety of genres and smashing them together to create his own distinct vision. This video is so cool and it’s great to finally know the exact film some of Tarantino’s most memorable scenes are referencing – enjoy! 🙂
Bobbugs: A prop master for U.S. TV shows, Michael Gump, aka Bobbugs, has created Master of Disguise, an awesome project where he covers himself with assorted colourful objects, such as LEGO, plastic ducks, cotton buds, cookies, paint, lollipops, pens, pizzas, temporary tattoos and so on, filling his instagram with unique and slightly offbeat self-portraits. LOVE it! 🙂
Star Trek Beyond: It must be trailer season because the shorts for the 2016 big budget blockbusters are coming in thick and fast this week. Today it’s Star Trek Beyond, which we believe was leaked so they had no choice but to release it early. Starring Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zach Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban, this third instalment in the current reboot (not directed by J.J. Abrams btw) is set to hit cinemas on 22nd July 2016.
The first trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, sequel to the 1996 sci-fi disaster movie Independence Day has just dropped! Directed by Roland Emmerich and featuring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward, this long-awaited follow up hits cinemas on 24th June 2016. Will be interesting to see where they go with this one.
So toymaker Beeline Creative have decided to pay tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic by creating Pulp Fiction Explicit Talking Figures. This collection, available on Amazon for $50, is made up of four figures including Jules Winnfield, Vincent Vega, Jimmie Dimmick, and Butch with each one able to blurt out twelve uncensored quotes from the film. These are the best. Christmas. gift. ever. – gimme, gimme, gimme! 🙂
Finally, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will battle Bebop and Rocksteady in the first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of Shadows which also introduces the character of Casey Jones played by Arrow star Stephen Amell. The second film, which at this stage looks way better than the first one, also stars returning characters Megan Fox as April O’Neil plus Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and will hit cinemas on 3rd June 2016. Cowabunga, dudes! 😉
YouTube Rewind 2015: Well it’s that time of year when YouTube takes a look back at 2015 with their annual YouTube Rewind video ‘Now Watch Me 2015‘, recapping some of the biggest trends of the year as well as recreating a few classic viral videos.
